What is Scientology?

What does it mean to be a Scientologist?

Scientology is a religion and philosophical system founded by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard in 1953. It has since grown into one of the most controversial and widely practiced new religious movements in the world. Scientology believers use the doctrines of the faith to help them find inner peace, heightened spiritual awareness, and self-actualization.

According to the beliefs of Scientology, their goal is to free the spirit from the physical body through the use of technology, training, and counseling. Scientologists work to promote personal ascendancy or “spiritual freedom” so that individuals can be in control of their lives and reach their full potential. This process is known as “clearing.” In order to achieve spiritual freedom, Scientologists are expected to learn how to look objectively at their actions, thoughts, reactions, and motivations. They must also learn how to accept responsibility for their actions and make amends for any wrongs they may have committed. It is through this process that they believe that they can reach the highest state of spiritual consciousness.

At its core, Scientology is a belief system based on the observation of cause and effect. It teaches that every action has a reaction, and that understanding and controlling these reactions is fundamental to success in life. Scientologists are encouraged to read and study the writings of Ron Hubbard, and use his teachings to guide them in their quest for personal improvement. Scientologists are also taught to respect the beliefs and ideas of others, regardless of their background, religion, or creed.

Scientology is an optimistic religion and seeks to answer life's fundamental questions of why we are here and where are we going. This open-minded outlook is also seen in the church's extensive social outreach program. Through its drug education, literacy, prison-based rehabilitation, and other programs, the Church of Scientology works to improve society as a whole. In addition, the Church provides spiritual guidance and counseling to those who are struggling with issues such as depression, addiction, and anxiety.

The Church of Scientology is heavily focused on its members' involvement in the church's activities and ceremonies. The church offers regular services, classes, and community meetings which serve as focal points for members to come together and share their experiences and successes. These meetings provide a sense of belonging and community that many members find to be a major draw when seeking out the religion.

In summary, Scientology is a religion and philosophical system founded by L. Ron Hubbard that seeks to promote individual spiritual development and social betterment. It teaches that through knowledge and understanding of the cause and effect relationship of our actions, we can uncover our true selves and reach our full potential. Through its extensive social outreach programs and ceremonies, it strives to create spiritual harmony and ultimately, to make a better world for everyone.
